Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 15, 2026
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information FunStudyCards ("FunStudyCards", "we", "us", or "our") collects when you use our website and services, how we use that information, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By using FunStudyCards, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
This policy applies to all visitors and registered users of FunStudyCards, whether you're browsing public flashcard collections, creating your own account, or studying and taking quizzes. If you have questions about anything in this document, our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password. Passwords are never stored in plain text — see "Data Security" below.
- Content you create. The flashcard collections, cards, and cover choices you create or save through your account.
- Study activity. Study progress, card difficulty ratings, and quiz scores, so we can show you accurate progress tracking.
- Device and usage data. Device type, browser, approximate location derived from IP address, and pages visited, collected automatically for analytics and security purposes.
2. How We Use Your Data
We only use the data described above for purposes consistent with running FunStudyCards — we don't sell your personal information or use it for purposes unrelated to the service. Specifically, we use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the FunStudyCards service, including your dashboard and study progress.
- Send you optional product updates, tips, and service-related notices. You can opt out at any time.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- Understand how FunStudyCards is used through aggregated analytics, primarily via Google Analytics, so we can prioritize improvements.
3. Google AdSense & Cookies
FunStudyCards may use Google AdSense to display advertisements that help keep the service free. As part of this, Google and its partners set and read cookies on your device to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings, and you can review how Google uses data from sites that use its services at the link below.
- Opt out of personalized ads at Google Ad Settings.
- Learn more about how Google uses cookies for advertising at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
4. Cookies We Use
Beyond the advertising cookies described above, FunStudyCards uses a small number of essential and analytics cookies:
- Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember preferences like your dark mode setting. The site cannot function properly without these.
- Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics, help us understand which pages and features are used most, so we can prioritize improvements.
- Advertising cookies, set by Google AdSense as described in Section 3, personalize the ads you may see on FunStudyCards.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; note that disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of FunStudyCards, like staying signed in, from working correctly.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and content for as long as your account remains active, so that your collections and study progress are there when you come back. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data and content from our active systems, though copies may persist briefly in backups before they are purged in the normal course of our backup rotation.
6. Children's Privacy
FunStudyCards is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
7. Data Security
We use Firebase, a Google Cloud service, to store account and application data. Firebase encrypts data both in transit and at rest. Passwords are hashed and never stored or transmitted in plain text, and all traffic between your browser and FunStudyCards is encrypted using SSL/HTTPS. While no system is completely immune to risk, we follow industry-standard practices to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
We also limit access to personal data internally to the people and systems that need it to operate the service, and we review our security practices as FunStudyCards grows. If we ever become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable law.
8. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Request a portable copy of your data or object to certain processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page and we will respond within the timeframes required by law.
9. Your Rights Under CCPA
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request that we delete it, and to opt out of the sale of your personal information. FunStudyCards does not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
10. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services to operate FunStudyCards:
- Firebase — authentication and data storage.
- Google Analytics — aggregated, anonymized usage analytics.
- Google AdSense — advertising, described in Section 3 above.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data, and we encourage you to review them.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date above whenever we make changes, and encourage you to review this page periodically.
